Don’t turn up empty handed – What our directors brought to the table?

Ben Smallwood our Site Director, has a special interest in the environmental sustainability and materiality of our sites. Ben has a background in advanced materials engineering at Red Bull Advanced Technologies but has since taken a turn into architecture and experimenting with the manipulation of raw natural materials. Ben like Müge has a passion for photography but this has developed into his skill as a drone photographer.

Rebecca Leighton, Technical Director. Known as Bee in the practice, she is our resident researcher, ensuring our projects are not only reflective of the landscape but the political and cultural traits of the region. Rebecca runs the practice day to day ensuring the practice is organised and structured to give the best output for our clients.

Borna Cvrtila the Finance Director of Atelier Regolith. Borna is our numbers guy, nothing he does is not based off of facts or numbers. Borna was born in Croatia and has spent much of his life by the sea. Frank Lloyd Wright and his geographical background has had a great influence on his architectural career so far, directing him to organic architecture and ultimately, Atelier Regolith. Borna is a keen model maker, although his artistic career started with painting from as early as age 9. He is an advocate of design that can be understood and appreciated by anyone from any background, and it should be inspired from a wide range of disciplines, not solely architecture, and even including movies.

Müge Karatas the Marketing Director of Atelier Regolith. Müge has a mind for visualisation, she realises our designs and objectives. Not only is Müge a skilled model maker but is also in charge of the design of our social media and website, these roles suit her passion for the finer details in life and stem from her passion of digital and film photography. Along with these traits Müge is one of the driving forces of sustainability in our practice to make sure that it is at the forefront of all our designs, from the carbon footprint, to passive design.
