GNR Intervention

The design of an observational deck for the designated GNR building of Nottingham.

The intervention in the GNR warehouse is designed to enhance the user experience in a "one-way" circulation system that flows throughout the building, with each platform giving the visitor a different experience to the previous space.

The main concept is intertwining the landscape with the existing structure through an eye-catching, dynamic infrastructure of movement, which extends from the north façade into the landscape. We achieved this inspiration of stringy, flowing elements in relation to the railways that run by the site combined with the "movement" of skating. The supplies we have chosen for the project consist of locally sourced recycled materials, such as wooden pallets, timber, steel, to keep the embodied energy of my site as low as possible.
