Environmental
Environmental design is the process of addressing surrounding environmental parameters when devising plans, programs, policies, buildings, or products. It seeks to create spaces that will enhance the natural, social, cultural and physical environment of particular areas.
Environmental performance comprises a combination of factors that can be measured to give an idea of a building’s (or projects or products or process's) environmental impact during manufacture use and disposal.
In relation to buildings, the factors usually involved give an indication of the quantity of resource consumed by a building throughout its life and the degree to which its materials can be recycled or re-used.
Factors that can be used to measure environmental performance:
-
Source of materials.
-
Use of materials.
-
Water source.
-
Flexibility, durability and resilience.

Sustainability within architecture relates to the environmental factors that impacts buildings by utilizing the design method, materials, energy and development spaces that aren’t detrimental to the surrounding ecosystem or communities.
